NOTICE: POSTING OF POLITICAL SIGNS

POLITICAL SIGNS: The City of Lackawanna would like to remind all political candidates, their supporters and the residents of the City about Lackawanna City Code (230-41,B,5) that restricts political signs, the code states: Political signs not exceeding four square feet in area, cannot be erected earlier than three weeks before an election and must be removed within seven calendar days following the election. Also please take note ANY SIGNS (Political, Garage Sale , Advertising of any kind, etc.) placed on City property or right of way is prohibited and will be removed.

SENIOR CENTER OVERHAUL COMPLETED.....

Lackawanna Officials have announced the completion of a $200,000 overhaul of the city's Senior Center. Improvements to the building were made possible through a grant secured by State Senator William Stachowski. The funds allowed for the replacement of an outdated heating and air conditioning system, as well as the building's roof and gutters and resurfacing of the parking lot. the center has more than 300 senior citizens members who participate in it's programs, including exercise classes, driving instructions and arts and crafts - or who gather at the center for lunch. The non profit center is located at 230 Martin Road

Steel Plant Museum launches website

For those who do not know what the Steel Plant Museum is, it is an organization that is dedicated to preserving teh rich history of the steel plants that were based in Western New York. The SPM is located inside the Lackawanna Public Lbrary. Membership prices are as follows:

* Student - $5, Friend - $20, Patron - $35, Benefactor - $50, Bronze - $75, Silver - $100, Gold - $500 and Platium - $1000

All membership level are renewble annually, with the Gold and Platiunum levels coming with lifetime membership. The museum is located at 560 Ridge Road in the basement of the Lackawanna Public Library. It also has a satellite locateion at 682 Ridge Road at the Bethel Presbyterian Church in Lackawanna. The Steel Plant Museum has recently launched a new web site thanks to work done by Dennis Reed from Monroe Fordham Regional History Center at Buffalo State College. The web site features updated information, online links, video clips and former steel plants and some of the certain processes which went on during production.

The Erie County Motor Vehicles Department has closed the satellite office located in the City Clerk's Office. The offices in Buffalo and at the ECC campus are open for business to the public.
